Welcome to the Family Resources Webpage
BIDMC Families - Medical training is challenging for doctors and for their loved ones. To help us through this period, a group of volunteers and members of the BIDMC staff have created BIDMC Families, a social network for the spouses and partners of medical interns, residents and fellows. If you are a spouse or partner of a medical intern, resident or fellow, come find us on www.bigtent.com/groups/bidmcfamily or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved.
HMS Office of Work and Family - the Harvard Office of Work and Family (OWF) provides information, resources, referrals, educational programs and support to those combining work lives with family concerns. The Harvard Office of Work and Family is located at 164 Longwood Avenue, Room 106, Boston, MA 02115. Please call in advance to make an appointment, phone 617 432-1615 or email: email@example.com.
Parents in a Pinch - Call (617) 739-5437 or 1-800-688- 4697 and a thoroughly screened and experienced childcare provider will come to your home and keep your children happy and entertained. You pay only the caregiver's hourly fee of $15/hour and you can go to work knowing your children are in good hands - and having fun! Parents in a Pinch also provide elder care services. Call the Parents in a Pinch temporary placements department for more information or to make a reservation for care, or visit them online at www.parentsinapinch.com.
Lactation Pump Room - If you wish to access one of the rooms upon returning to work from maternity leave, please contact Althea Lawrence at x7-4695 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org. To use the room on the East Campus, she will coordinate with Public Safety to have access to the room added to your swipe ID card. If you do not have a swipe card, you can get one at Public Safety after working with Althea. On the West Campus, the room can be accessed by obtaining the swipe card key at the West Campus Information Desk. You would request the key to the HR room. The card key is good for the day, so you would need to get a new key each shift, but you can use it throughout your shift. If you have any questions or concerns or if you are having trouble breastfeeding or pumping, the Lactation Consultants on the East Campus (7-5765) would be happy to speak with you.
Parent Connection - Welcoming a new baby into the home can be both an exciting and overwhelming experience, especially for first-time parents. Because you may have many questions about caring for your baby, the Medical Center offers the Parent Connection- a free service for first-time parents who deliver here.
