Global Health Effectiveness Program

Six-Week Course in July and August

The new Global Health Effectiveness Program will be an intensive and rigorous six-week experience in July and August at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH). The Course is a collaboration between HSPH and the Harvard Department of Global Health and Social Medicine co-directed by Paul Farmer, MD, PhD, and Joseph J. Rhatigan Jr, MD.

Three Credit-Granting Courses

The summer Global Health Effectiveness curriculum will consist of three credit-granting courses:

1. Epidemiologic Methods for Global Health

Covers introductory level epidemiology and a biostatistics primer introducing basic principles of statistics, with a specific focus on problems related to global health.

2. Principles of Management in Global Health

Trains students in the fundamental principles of organizational behavior, strategy, operations management, leadership and financial accounts relevant for work in leading global health programs.

3. Studies in Global Health Care Delivery

Engages students in the analysis of case studies that describe efforts to improve health care delivery in resource-poor settings. Classroom discussion of these cases will illuminate principles and frameworks for the design of efficient and effective global health interventions.
