Volunteer Research Assistant
The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Massachusetts Mental Health Center in Jamaica Plain is seeking a motivated undergraduate or graduate students to volunteer 12-24 hours per week. Students will participate in one of several studies being conducted in the Psychosis Research Program at Harvard Medical School's Commonwealth Research Center. Possible tasks that students will get involved in include:
- Coordinating daily activities of the research project.
- Maintaining and updating SPSS databases.
- Library and internet research.
- Organizing and filing lab materials.
- Editing materials being prepared for publication.
- Conducting structured interviews with patients or their family members.
Qualified students may also have opportunities to engage in some direct clinical work with clients by assisting with groups in the Prevention and Recovery in Early Psychosis Program (PREP) or by helping clients to practice specific skills they are learning in the program.
This position provides a valuable experience for individuals who are considering applying to graduate school in clinical psychology, especially those who are interested in research on the development and progression of psychosis and/or the development of novel treatment approaches. For those who can arrange it through their university, we are happy to provide you with necessary documentation to receive course credit for your work.
