Fellowship

One year fellowships are available in the following ACGME-approved specialties:

Selective Pathology (5 positions; one in general surgical pathology under the leadership of Dr. Douglas Lin; two positions in GI pathology under the leadership of Dr. Tracy Challies, and two positions in Breast Pathology under the leadership of Dr. Liza Quintana. Cytopathology  (2 positions. Program Director, Dr. Gamze Ayata)

Dermatopathology  (1 home-based position out of 3; sponsored by BWH, within the HMS Combined Dermatopathology Program.  Program Director, Dr. George Murphy, BWH; BIDMC Institutional Director, Dr. Steven Tahan; MGH Institutional Director, Dr. Lyn Duncan)

Hematopathology (2 positions. Program Director, Dr. German Pihan, BIDMC)

Medical Microbiology (1 position. Program Director, Dr. James Kirby, BIDMC)

Molecular Genetic Pathology (1 rotator’s position sponsored by BIDMC, included in the HMS Combined Molecular Genetic Pathology Program. Program Director, Dr. Janina Longtine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. BIDMC site director, Dr. Andrew Beck)

Transfusion Medicine (1 rotator’s position sponsored by BIDMC, included in the HMS Combined Transfusion Medicine Fellowship. Program Director, Dr. Richard Kaufman, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. BIDMC site director, Dr. Lynne Uhl) 

Preference for many of these positions is given to residents who are already in our training program.
