The Application Process
Potential applicants should consider the following admission preferences/requirements:
- We require evidence of recent education, i.e. completion of at least six credits in dietetics-related coursework, or equivalent, within three years of admission to the program.
- We desire a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0. However, we will not disqualify an applicant on GPA exclusively.
- We recommend attending a tour if it is feasible. Attending a tour may help answer many questions about our dietetic internship and what makes it unique. If an applicant is unable to attend a tour, he/she should please feel free to call or email the program with questions.
Application Packets:
If possible, please combine all components of the application packet into one mailing. The application packet must be postmarked by February 16, 2010 for consideration.
- Personal Letter of Application in appropriate business letter format. In 3 pages or less, applicants should provide some relevant information about themselves, discuss their short and long term goals, and why they feel this internship would be the best match for them.
- Completed and signed 2005 ADA Dietetic Internship Program Application, which can be downloaded here.
- A nonrefundable application fee of $60.00 in the form of either check or money order made payable to BIDMC Nutrition Services.
- A Verification Statement indicating the applicant has completed the academic requirements, or Declaration of Intent to complete the requirements prior to the start of the internship.
- Official Transcript(s) from all colleges and universities attended. Applicants must complete at least a baccalaureate degree prior to the internship.
- Three letters of reference from professionals qualified to give pertinent information about the ability, potential, character, personality, and professional qualifications of the applicant. All references must have original signatures and use the standard ADA reference form which can be downloaded here. References must include at least two from a professor/instructor in community nutrition, clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, food, and/or food service management. A reference from a work/internship supervisor is also desirable. Please do not include more than four (4) references.

Computer Matching Service
All applicants to the Dietetic Internship must participate in computer matching through D & D Digital Systems. Applicants now have two options for submitting their computer matching preferences.
1) Register online at: http://www.dnddigital.com and enter contact information, Dietetic Internship preferences and pay the $50 fee with a credit card on or before the deadline date.
OR
2) Obtain instructions and a mark/sense card fron D & D Digital. Send the preference and release cards with a check or money order for $50.00 to D & D Digital by receipted mail on or before the deadline date:

Acceptance Procedures:
April 5, 2010: Personal match results will be available online from D & D Digital systems at 6:00pm Central Daylight Time.
April 7, 2010: Applicants must telephone 617-667-2580 or fax 617-667-3126 (attention Patt Samour, DI Director) to confirm the acceptance or rejection of a computer match on or before 5:00 PM EST.
