Research Opportunities
The Department of Medicine at BIDMC is one of the major research departments in the United States. With over $147,484,000 in Department of Medicine research funding (FY2006), we rank in the top three among independent hospitals nationwide. Even more impressively, were the BIDMC a medical school rather than a single hospital, the Department of Medicine would rank in the top 20 of all U.S. medical school departments of medicine. In the last year alone, our faculty have published landmark papers in many fields.
Believing that discovery is an intrinsic part of being a physician, and committed to the training of residents in all dimensions, the Department of Medicine endeavors to expose every resident to understanding what a research career entails, offers research training to every interested resident, fosters research careers, and will introduce residents to a spectacular array of training opportunities that are available as part of our fellowships.
