Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship

Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine

BIDMC has 625 beds, including over 200 medical beds, and the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division directs 28 medical ICU beds. The hospital is a tertiary care referral center while still maintaining its long-standing function as a resource for the local community. The unique strengths of the BIDMC include a nationally known Interventional Pulmonary program and an active Pulmonary Physiology group that is integrally incorporated into care given in the medical ICU. Members of the division have central roles in such multi-disciplinary units as the Lung Cancer Center, the Airway Center, the Sleep Disorder Center and the Dyspnea Center. The medical intensive care units have a diverse population with specific focuses on liver disease, biliary disease and respiratory failure.

Harvard Medical School offers a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Training Program. The Harvard Program, a recognized national leader in training the next generation of pulmonary and critical care physicians, includes clinical rotations at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital.
