Course for the Clinical Investigator

This course is directed towards current junior clinical investigators or research fellows who will be on the BIDMC staff this coming academic year (AY 2009-2010). An application is attached and is due by February 28, 2009. Applications should be sent to cfd@bidmc.harvard.edu or rduda@caregroup.harvard.edu. Only electronically submitted applications will be accepted.

Course objectives:

  1. to provide an overview of research at BIDMC
  2. to provide information on personnel issues, such as hiring – and firing - research assistants
  3. to provide information on what skills are crucial for conducting clinical research
  4. to provide information on the nuts and bolts of performing clinical research – IRB, research administration
  5. to review opportunities in clinical research
  6. to provide information on scientific integrity and ethics
  7. to provide information on resources at BIDMC
  8. to provide information regarding publishing your research
  9. to meet your colleagues in an academic environment outside of the hospital
