A Note from the Director

The Center for Faculty Development, now located at RW871 on the East Campus , was established to assist all BIDMC faculty members achieve the highest level of academic and career accomplishments possible. The Center serves to facilitate and support the academic development of our faculty. In conjunction with the department chiefs and HMS and BIDMC academic leaders, the Center develops and implements programs to assist the faculty achieve success in clinical care, teaching, research, leadership, and academic service. The Center also provides advocacy and serves as a forum for discussion of potential obstacles to career goals.

Three committees have been formed to address the needs of women's careers, multicultural faculty and investigators.  Each committee has both junior and senior level faculty, which in itself serves as an informal mentorship mechanism.  These committees identify timely topics as they pertain to academic and career advancement for all faculty.  These committees also serve as a link to the residents, fellows and medical students and encourages participation and interaction amongst the faculty and trainees.

We are very pleased with the work of our committee chairs and members.  Because of their hard work and dedication, we have been able to offer many programs to BIDMC faculty as well as collaborative programs with HMS and the Harvard affiliated hospital through their faculty development offices. If you are interested in participating as a member of any of our subcommittees or wish for us to address a particular topic in our CME seminar series or courses, please do not hesitate to contact us.
