Carl J. Shapiro Institute for Education and Research

The mission of the Carl J. Shapiro Institute for Education and Research at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is to support, promote, and develop innovative programs and models for the dual activities of teaching and research at academic medical centers.

The Institute will provide intellectual leadership, state-of-the-art facilities, and faculty and staff resources to support the education and training of medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees as well as the career development and mentorship of faculty. The Institute will play a broader role in fostering the mission of academic medical centers around the country and throughout the world by training tomorrow's leaders in education and research and by assuming a leadership role in addressing and helping solve the challenges facing academic medicine.
