Picower Foundation
In October of 2007, the Picower Foundation in New York City awarded BIDMC $2.85 million in the area of diabetes and metabolism research to further the leading-edge work of Jeffrey Flier, MD, and Barbara Kahn, MD, as part of a multi-institutional consortium.
Dr. Flier was awarded $1.5 million for his work in energy balance and metabolism in the periphery and the brain, and Dr. Kahn $1.35 million for her research into novel pathway regulation glucose homeostasis in the periphery and hypothalamus.
