Ellison Foundation
Since 2005, The Ellison Foundation has awarded $750,000 to BIDMC’s state-of-the-art Center for Imaging Technology and Molecular Diagnostics.
Specifically, funding has supported the leading work of Robert Lenkinski, PhD, and John Frangioni, MD, PhD, in improving prostate cancer diagnosis, staging, and treatment.
The foundation’s gifts have thus far led to the development of a reliable MRI-based tumor aggressiveness score to help patients make educated treatment decisions, and a better understanding of the molecular biology that determines the behavior of human prostate cancer on MRI leading to the discovery of two genetic subsets of the disease.
