How to Make an Appointment
The road to better health begins with a simple phone call. Call
617-632-9700, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to make an appointment to meet with our Dialysis Access team. You will talk to a dialysis access coordinator who will do a brief medical history before making your first appointment.
Easy and Prompt Access
Over the telephone, the Dialysis Access Nurse Coordinator will ask you some general health questions and then give you a time and date for your appointment as well as any additional diagnostic appointments you may need before your dialysis access surgery. We will schedule these appointments at your convenience, based on your clinical condition.
Before you arrive at the Dialysis Access Center, you will need to gather all supporting information, such as your medical records, the medical tests you have had and their results, a list of your current medications, and your insurance card. Check with your insurance company to see if your policy includes dialysis access care and treatment at BIDMC.
Bring a Loved One and a Notebook
We encourage you to invite a family member or trusted friend to your first appointment. In fact, we welcome a loved one at every appointment to help you as you gather information about your health and treatment. This person can provide support and another set of ears as you learn about the procedure. Remember to bring a list of any questions you have for the dialysis access team, and a notebook so you can jot down information.
