Meet Dr. Robert Andrews
Dr. Robert Andrews joined the Bariatric Surgical Staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in June of 2010 after completing a fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery.
He is the third surgeon to join the weight loss surgical team at BIDMC. He performs the Adjustable Gastric Band, the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, and the Sleeve Gastrectomy as options for weight loss surgery. In addition, he practices as a general surgeon at BIDMC.
Dr. Andrews is also an instructor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and participates in research at BIDMC as well as patient weight loss support groups. His surgery practice is at both the Boston and Needham BIDMC campuses.
He is a graduate of New York University and attended medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine prior to completing an internship and residency in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Andrews is happily married and the proud father of two sons and one daughter. Though born and raised in New York state, Dr. Andrews says he is not a Yankees fan. He does admit to being a Buffalo Bills fan and hopes his patients will not hold this against him. In his spare time, he enjoys karate as part of his fitness routine.
