Dr. Robert Andrews

"Robert A. Andrews, M.D.

Title:

Dr. Andrews is a Bariatric Surgeon appointed to the Section of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

Education:

Dr. Andrews completed his undergraduate education at New York University, and he received his MD from the flagship State University of New York at Buffalo. He then completed his surgical residency at New York’s prestigious Lenox Hill Hospital prior to completing his fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Awards and Honors:

Dr. Andrews was the 2009 recipient of the prestigious John O. Vieta award for compassionate care, and has received numerous awards for teaching. He received the Milton research grant from Harvard University in 2010.

Surgical Groups:

He serves on the Patient Safety and Outcomes committee for the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and on the Surgical Simulation and Team Training Committee at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Both committees are dedicated to improving patient safety and outcomes through education and early intervention.
