Risk Factors

Factors that increase your risk of peripheral aneurysms include:

  • Smoking
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Obesity
  • Family history of heart disease or vascular disease
  • Age - Most people who are diagnosed with these types of aneurysms are in their 60s and 70s.
  • Gender - In addition, abdominal aortic aneurysms and aneurysms of the leg arteries occur more frequently in males.
