Pleural Disease Program
The Pleural Disease Program is a specialized multidisciplinary service for the evaluation and treatment of patients with diseases affecting the linings around the lungs.
Patients with pleural effusions or pleural masses are evaluated for possible thoracentesis, pleuroscopy (both medical and surgical) and/or biopsy.
Pleural manometry is routinely performed, and home drainage systems are implanted when appropriate. In most cases, urgent thoracentesis can be arranged within 24 hours.
