Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at BIDMC
Smaller scars, minimal blood loss, less postoperative pain, faster recuperation, and shorter hospital stays are among the potential benefits of laparoscopic surgery.
Today, minimally invasive surgery has become the preferred approach to a growing number of major surgeries that previously involved large incisions and lengthy recuperations. The Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery positions Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a leader in advancing the evolving practice of laparoscopic technique, technology and training throughout New England.
Our accredited Carl J. Shapiro Simulation and Skills Center, one of the most comprehensive such centers in the United States, offers cross-disciplinary training that allows practicing surgeons, medical students, and nurses to master minimally invasive techniques using state-of-the-art simulation technologies.
