Signs and Symptoms

The symptoms of mitral valve endocarditis are those of any infection. These include:

  • Fever over 100 degrees F
  • Sweats or chills, especially night sweats
  • Skin rash
  • Pain, tenderness, redness, swelling
  • Wound or cut that won’t heal
  • Sore throat or pain when swallowing
  • Sinus drainage, nasal congestion
  • Persistent cough
  • White patches in mouth or on tongue
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
