Signs and Symptoms
Endocarditis can cause a wide range of signs and symptoms that can vary. Some are symptoms that are associated with any infection. Signs and symptoms may include:
- Flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue, aching muscles and joints, night sweats and headache
- Shortness of breath or persistent cough
- Skin paleness
- Small, painful red bumps under the skin on the fingers and toes
- Nausea and vomiting
- Swelling of the feet, legs or abdomen
- Blood in the urine
- A new heart murmur
