Dear Colleague,
The success of the first year for the Spine Center at Beth Israel Deaconess has proven the value of listening to you and your patients. From our planning phase to the present, we have heard about the challenges of managing spine conditions. In response:
We streamline the path to the right care plan.
We sort through the complexities of spine conditions and bring the right care to the patient. Often we can do this in one visit, because we are a comprehensive, collegial team of seven specialists, as well as two mid-level providers. We also work closely with our colleagues in neurology, pain management, physical therapy and radiology.
We are the only spine center in Boston co-directed by a neurological surgeon and an orthopaedic surgeon, with a physiatrist as medical director. We collaborate constantly – whether in a hallway conversation or our biweekly multidisciplinary case conference.
We make access a priority.
For nonurgent needs, our goal is to provide appointments within two weeks. For urgent care, we offer expedited appointments. We see patients in Boston, Needham and Lexington.
We recommend nonsurgical options for most patients.
While we offer the highest level of surgical expertise, a referral for nonsurgical care is the norm. Our physical therapy program emphasizes personalized programs for long-term adherence, instead of “one size fits all.” We also specialize in the non-narcotic management of pain.
We communicate with you as partners in your patients’ care.
We know that our communication is crucial to your ongoing care for your patients. We stay in contact via multiple methods.
We hope to hear from you, and to have an opportunity to serve you and your patients.
