Short-term and Long-Term Counseling
Talking with someone about the violence in your life is an important part of the healing process. The center offers crisis counseling and short- and long- term therapy to help you cope with the impact of violence on your life. To schedule counseling sessions, please call (617) 667-8141.
Support Groups
The center has an extensive group program for people who are interested in getting support from others who have been through similar experiences.
All support groups are offered free of charge. Potential group members will be interviewed. For more information about the groups or to schedule an intake , please call (617) 667-8141.
Domestic Violence Support Group
This is a 10-week psycho-education and support group for women who have experienced / are experiencing abusive or controlling relationships. This group is helpful if you would like to learn more about the dynamics of abusive relationships, the impact on the survivor and child witnesses, legal right/options, safety and self-care. Journal Writing for Female Survivors of Trauma Group
In this group, members will develop new skills of coping with trauma-related issues through discussion and journal-writing exercises. Topics may include trust, relationships, body image, self-esteem, shame and guilt. All participants should have an established therapist. There is no charge for this group series. Sexual Assault Support Group
This 10-week psycho-educational / support group provides accurate information on the realities of rape. We will address issues related to trust, relationships, sexuality, betrayal, fear, safety, shame and self-blame and putting the responsibility for rape onto the perpetrator. This is a free group for adult women and it will meet weekly. It is important for group members to come in for an informational intake prior to the start of group. Survivors will have the opportunity to ask questions in group as they come up, and to aid in the selection of topics. Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
This 10-week psycho-educational / support group which focuses on current struggles which are a result of childhood sexual abuse. Patients work on issues such as trust, relationships, intimacy, self-esteem, boundaries, sexuality, and dealing with conflict. The focus of the group is safety and containment today, and working toward a healthier tomorrow. A brief intake is required. This is a free service of the CVPR.
