Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy services are provided by licensed professionals organized into care teams based on a patient’s medical diagnoses. The primary reason for occupational therapy in a hospital setting is to evaluate and treat patients with complex medical issues that have functional limitations. One of the main roles of the inpatient occupational therapist is to recommend a plan for rehabilitation upon discharge from the hospital to the patient’s treatment team. Consultation and treatment requires a referral from a BIDMC physician.
