The division of Interventional Radiology provides non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic minimally invasive interventional procedures on every organ system in the body. Using radiologic imaging to guide their procedures, interventional radiologists insert catheters and other tiny instruments through the blood vessels and other pathways of the body to treat a wide variety of conditions that once required surgery. Advantages of interventional radiology include: significantly reduced risk, pain and recovery times; and less expense than the surgical alternatives as general anesthesia is usually not required and many procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis.
Our highly-qualified interventional staff are recognized nationally and internationally for contributions that have helped establish Interventional Radiology as a subspecialty over the past 30 years. Interventional Radiology consulting service provides clinicians with all aspects of interventional management. Interventionalists are available around the clock for consultation, rounds, and scheduling/admissions where appropriate.
Procedures are performed at two locations on our Boston campus: the Shapiro Clinical Center and the West Campus Clinical Center. Please see our " Getting To Your Exam" page for more details.
