Escorts
As a courtesy to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center community, the Public Safety Department offers an escort service 24 hours a day, seven days a week including weekends and holidays. These escorts are generally provided for safety concerns on or between the two main campuses of the medical center and immediately surrounding areas. Escorts may be provided on foot or occasionally by patrol vehicle. While the Public Safety Department strives to respond to all reasonable escort requests in a timely manner, please be advised that the availability of escorts is based upon department resources and availability. There may be a slight delay if the department is currently handling an emergency situation, experiencing heavy call volume, or staff is limited.
To request an escort dial the Public Safety Department dispatch center. Give the dispatcher your name, the extension you are calling from and your current location as well as your intended destination. The dispatcher will be able to provide you with the availability of an escort as well as the wait time, if applicable.
Please note that Public Safety Department officers are unable to provide escorts outside of the immediate area of the medical center or for patients requiring medical assistance. If you are in need of medical attention or need assistance getting to the Emergency Department, please contact the Public Safety dispatch center and an ambulance will be dispatched to your location, if necessary.
