"Our social workers go above and beyond their usual work to make sure our patients feel safe and have the appropriate services while they are in the hospital and when they go home," said Penny Greenberg, RN, MS, Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. "Patients continually write to us about the tireless dedication and kindness of our social work team."
Social workers address and provide psychosocial support, crisis intervention, and referrals for patients and their families. Social work services are also available for patients seen in outpatient clinics and the Emergency Department. The Social Service and Case Management Department also maintains information about community resources and works collaboratively with various health care and human services agencies.
"Our team's first priority is helping our patients and families navigate difficult life transitions," said Merrill Adler, Director of Social Service and Case Management. "We are aware of the challenges families face when their loved one is sick and we want to help them gain access to services as quickly and easily as possible."
