Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital (BID-Needham) received final approval to open its new wing to patients the week of October 26.
The Emergency Department will open on Tuesday, October 27. The new inpatient unit will move into the new wing on Wednesday, October 28.
"This is an historic milestone for the hospital," said Jeffrey H. Liebman, President and Chief Executive Officer of BID-Needham. "On behalf of everyone here at Beth Israel Deaconess I want to thank the town of Needham for recognizing the need for the expansion and encouraging us to go forward in creating a magnificent hospital for Needham and surrounding communities."
The new wing includes a 19 bay Emergency Department, a new inpatient unit with 20 private beds, and a new MRI suite.
"So many people played integral roles in making sure we were doing our best to make health care more accessible to everyone," said Liebman. "I also want to thank our board of trustees and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for their hard work in helping us through a process that proved challenging yet exhilarating."
Entrance to the new Emergency Department is off Chestnut Street. Patients should use the administration parking lot to park.
To access the new inpatient unit please go to the main entrance located on the side of the hospital. You can access the parking lot there from either Lincoln Street or Chestnut Street.
