Hematology/Oncology Department

The Hematology / Oncology Department offer a team approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and hematologic (blood) disorders. Our oncologists care for patients with all types of cancer, and are active staff at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Mark Huberman is a medical oncologist with a specialty in thoracic oncology. Dr. Erin DeRose is a medical oncologist –hematologist, with particular interest in breast cancer. Dr. Glenn Bubley specializes in genitourinary oncology. Drs. Berman and Nedea are radiation oncologists and see patients in consultation in Needham. Through the hospital’s affiliation with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, other forms of advanced cancer treatment are readily available to patients when needed.

The guiding principle of Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Care at BID-Needham is to provide community based, highly compassionate care that is clinically and technically advanced using a team approach.

A team of physicians, oncology nurses and social workers assumes responsibility for the varied needs of a patient and his or her family. Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Care at BID-Needham offers chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as well as evaluation and treatment of blood disease.  We offer on-site advanced imaging services, including mammography, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI capabilities. Through our partnership with BIDMC, our patients have access to a continuum of leading edge cancer and management programs as well as social services, nutrition consultation, spiritual care, hospice programs and rehabilitation services.  Care is always individualized, placing the needs of each patient first.

If a cancer patient should require the type of highly specialized care that is only available in an academic medical center setting, we have a close relationship with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.  In fact, most of our physicians also see patients at BIDMC-Boston in addition to working at BID-Needham. This unique arrangement allows for delivery of cancer care in a close-knit, convenient and personalized environment while still having more specialized resources readily available.
