Radiology Services
The Radiology Department in Chelsea is approximately seven miles north of Boston which allows patients the choice of having their imaging services closer to home. Services provided to the public are diagnostic x-ray, digital mammography and ultrasound. The department is conveniently located on the first floor and is easily accessible to all with both handicap bathrooms and dressing areas. Routine diagnostic x-rays such as chest, abdomen and bone radiographs are performed as a walk-in service dependent upon physician orders. All of our staff are trained in adult and pediatric imaging. We are have bilingual staff which is an asset to our department and interpreter services are available. Ultrasound and Digital Mammography services are by appointment only although same day screening mammography exams can be performed. Our board certified Radiologists are the same Radiologists who read images at the main campus in Boston therefore providing the same
standard of care to all of our patients.

Digital Mammography
Newly installed (2008) GE state-of-the-art digital mammography machine along with computer-aided detection using ICAD's Secondlook digital technology to help detect early stage breast cancer. Screening exams are offered Monday through Friday by appointment or by same day walk in service. All of our technologists are licensed by the State of Massachusetts and the program is accredited by the American College of Radiology. All of our radiologists are board certified.
Ultrasound
Using new state-of-the-art Philips equipment we provide OB/GYN, Vascular, Abdomen and small parts imaging. The PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) instantaneously transmits ultrasound images remotely to the main BIDMC campus in Boston for immediate interpretation. This allows the ordering physicians to get their patients results without delay and allows for immediate intervention and continuity of care. Our Sonographers are ARDMS certified.
Diagnostic X-ray
Providing a full-range of diagnostic imaging services such as walk-in routine x-rays including chest, abdomen and bone and head radiographs. We utilize (computerized radiography) which allows for immediate interpretation and reporting. All of our technologists are experienced in adult and pediatric imaging. Exceptional patient services and relationships with the ordering providers make this small community department unique. The department is fully integrated with and employs the same standard of care as the main campus at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
