In response to many patient requests for convenient dermatology services, Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare-Chelsea has added a weekly clinic, staffed by a physician and nurse practitioner from the
Department of Dermatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
"Dermatology has been among the specialty services most-requested by both our primary care doctors and our patients," says Kelly Orlando, Executive Director for Ambulatory Services. "We are thrilled to offer Dermatology at our center."
Orlando adds, "Our patients are very savvy and understand the importance of getting care for skin conditions. In addition, our PCPs have a longstanding relationship with the Dermatology providers, which helps promote a team approach to taking care of patients."
Dr. Michael E. Bigby, MD, sees Chelsea patients the first Tuesday of the month. Dr. Bigby provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for skin conditions.
Kathleen Fischer, RN, MSN, NP, sees patients each Tuesday. A board-certified adult nurse practitioner, Fischer provides services including
- complete skin checks
- skin care counseling, treatment plans, and follow-up for a variety of conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and warts
- removal of warts and other benign lesions
- screenings for skin cancer, and biopsies when needed
