Advanced Limb-sparing Surgical Procedures
This division, under the direction of Mark C. Gebhardt, MD, includes the multi-disciplinary care of patients with tumors of bone or soft tissue. Our Orthopaedics Oncology team of experts is internationally recognized for their expertise in limb salvage reconstruction following tumor excisions and combined modality treatment for bone and soft tissue.
Multidisciplinary Team
The team includes a:
- Medical oncologist
- Radiation oncologist
- Surgical oncologist
- Radiologist
- Pathologist
The team confers regularly to discuss proper imaging, diagnosis and treatment plans, and participates in clinical trials with the Dana-Farber-Harvard Cancer Center.

- Primary and metastatic malignant bone tumors
- Benign bone tumors
- Benign and malignant soft tissue tumors

The division also houses state-of-the-art imaging and pathology services.
Multidisciplinary Conference
There is a multidisciplinary conference where we discuss patients with challenging tumors to arrive at individualized, optimal treatment of each patient fully recognizing that each patient is different and has unique needs.
