Professional Nurse Advancement and Recognition Program
Recognizes and Rewards Clinical Nursing Expertise
The Professional Nurse Advancement and Recognition Program is a clinical promotion system that develops, recognizes, and rewards clinical nursing expertise. First implemented in 1983, the program supports advancement from beginner to expert clinical practice and provides professional nurses an opportunity for career development. Peer review boards evaluate applications for clinical advancement and select recipients for nurse recognition awards.
Clinical Nurse 3 and Clinical Nurse 4 Advancement
The Clinical Nurse may apply for advancement to Clinical Nurse 3 (Proficient Level) after 2 years of practice, and Clinical Nurse 4 (Expert Level) after 5 years of practice as a nurse. Six months of this practice must be at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The program provides the Clinical Nurse the opportunity to compile a portfolio that demonstrates a contribution to the delivery of excellent patient care. These portfolios are reviewed by a panel of clinical nurse peers.
