Stroke Prevention
Remember, "Prevention is better than cure."
Up until a few years ago, stroke was not considered preventable. However, over the past few years our understanding of stroke and its causes has improved dramatically. New knowledge, surgical techniques and drugs can now help us to reduce the risk of stroke. Indeed, the best treatment for stroke at this time is still prevention. Stroke is one of the most predictable and fortunately, preventable of all life-threatening health problems.
Stroke victims often have other diseases or conditions, which predispose them to having strokes. These can be identified, and in most cases modified. Research has shown that you can take steps to prevent stroke by reducing and controlling your
risk factors.
