Veronique van der Horst, MD, PhD
Dr. Vanderhorst joined the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center as a staff physician in 2009. She is board certified in neurology and is an Instructor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School.
Education/Training
She received her MD and PhD degrees from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. She completed her internship at University of Massachusetts Medical Center and neurology residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She also completed her movement disorders fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Vanderhorst's clinical interests include all movement disorders, including gait disorders, Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonisms, ataxias, tremors, tics, and Stiff Person Syndrome.
Research Interests
Dr. Vanderhorst conducts research on brainstem and spinal cord pathways that influence gait, posture and tone. She also has an interest in brainstem and spinal circuitries that are affected in non-motor symptoms that are common in Parkinson's disease, such as problems with bladder control and sleep.
