David Simon, MD, PhD
Dr. David Simon is board certified in neurology and is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School.
Education/Training
Dr. Simon earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins in 1986 followed by MD and PhD degrees from Washington University in St. Louis in 1993.
After completing the Harvard Longwood Neurology Training Program and a Movement Disorders Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1998, he joined the Movement Disorders Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Simon’s clinical interests include all movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonisms, tremors, gait disorders, ataxias, tics and Tourette Syndrome.
He also has an interest in mitochondrial disorders, including MELAS and Lebers hereditary optic neuropathy.
Research
In additional to patient care, Dr. Simon is involved in clinical trials aimed at testing strategies to slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease.
He also runs a laboratory research program focusing on elucidating the causes of degeneration of brain cells in aging and in Parkinson’s disease, and testing strategies to protect against this degeneration. Learn more about his laboratory and research >>.
