BOSTON – Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center has been recognized with a 2008 Premier Award for Excellence, one of 27 hospitals in the country cited as a leader in providing outstanding patient care and consistently setting the standard in clinical excellence nationwide.
The hospitals were among the top 1 percent of the 3,807 eligible acute care inpatient facilities nationwide in a process that relied on data submitted to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the CMS Hospital Compare project. Hospitals do not apply for the award, but were identified as a top performer in quality and efficiency among all acute care facilities that had MEDPAR 2006 and Hospital Compare 2006 data, regardless of bed size or teaching status.
