Nephrology

The Nephrology Division provides clinical consultation and management of kidney disease, urinary disorders, kidney and pancreas transplantation, hypertension, kidney stones, disorders of water and electrolyte metabolism, and disturbances in calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.

Outpatients with kidney conditions are seen either in the Shapiro Clinical Center or at the Joslin Diabetes Center Nephrology Unit. Members of the division participate in joint outcome sessions with Radiology, Pathology, Urology, and Obstetrics & Gynecology on renal conditions, kidney stone disease, and medical complications of pregnancy. The division provides specialty care in acute and chronic hemodialysis and home peritoneal dialysis, hemofiltration, vascular access procedures, and investigational modalities such as pancreatic islet cell transplantation.
