Gerontology

Healthy aging is a vibrant part of the mission at BIDMC. The health care professionals in the Division of Gerontology provide older adults with comprehensive services that involve a team of geriatricians, geriatric nurse practitioners, geriatric psychiatrists, and social workers. From the healthy and active 65 year old, to the frail and medicaly complex older adult, our team can provide primary care, preventive health services, and consultation for a specific problem, in both the outpatient and hospital settings.

The Division of Gerontology at BIDMC is one of the oldest and largest academic programs in aging in this country.  In addition to faculty at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, it includes clinical and research faculty from Hebrew SeniorLife, one of the nation’s leading clinical research centers in gerontology, providing multilevel long-term care and rehabilitation services for seniors. The Division’s research, education and clinical activities are spread among a number of sites in the Boston area.

Geriatric care at BIDMC is consistently ranked in the top 10 in the nation by the annual rankings of US News and World Report .
