The BIDMC hospitalist group is committed to providing high quality, patient-centered care, with an emphasis on real-time communication with referring clinicians, and safe transitions for our patients during the vulnerable period between discharge and outpatient follow-up.
Inpatient Care for Hundreds of Physicians
As our reputation has grown, so has our referral base. We now provide inpatient care for hundreds of primary care doctors and specialists in the Boston area and surrounding communities. These include our colleagues at:
- BIDMC's academic primary care practice
- Healthcare Associates
- Joslin Diabetes Center
- BIDMC affiliated community health centers
- Private practice groups
- Many of the local academic institutions, including Northeastern and Harvard University
Co-Management Patient Care Model
BIDMC is an academic tertiary care referral center which offers state-of-the-art surgeries, procedures, and consultation. In order to provide the best care for our patients, we have partnered with our specialists to provide a co-management patient care model.
When complex patients are referred for specialty care, we can:
- Arrange the transfer
- Assemble the team
- Provide complete inpatient care
- Ensure that the patient is safely transitioned to home
Improves Patient Care and Satisfaction
We have found that this model improves patient care and satisfaction, and allows the specialists to focus on their area of expertise.
