Center for Advanced Endoscopy


Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center offers a variety of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic services, such as, therapeutic ERCP and sphincter of Oddi manometry, endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration, small bowel enteroscopy, advanced endoscopic therapies for heartburn and Barrett’s esophagus, and many more. Center for IBS and Functional Bowel Disorders


The Center for IBS and Functional Bowel Disorders provides a multidisciplinary treatment approach to the management of many motility conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome, swallowing disorders, chronic constipation, chronic abdominal pain, fecal incontinence, intestinal pseudo-obstruction, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), nausea and vomiting. Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease



Our center’s clinical team provides multidisciplinary care and second opinions for both newly diagnosed and complex cases of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, pouchitis, microscopic (collagenous / lymphocytic) colitis, and indeterminate colitis. The Pancreas Center


The physicians of the Pancreas Center utilize a comprehensive methodology in their treatment of pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis, employing medical, endoscopic, radiological, and surgical approaches. Visit our Pancreas Center page for more information.

The Celiac Disease Center


The BIDMC Celiac Disease Center is the only multidisciplinary center in New England specializing in the care of patients with celiac disease and other gluten sensitive disorders. Our Internationally recognized experts have extensive experience in managing all aspects of celiac disease, including treatment of refractory sprue. The Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Oncology Program


The Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Oncology Program is a comprehensive unit dedicated to the treatment and study of patients with cancers of the GI tract, bile ducts, liver and pancreas. Full care including initial or second evaluations and long-term follow up is offered in conjunction with the patient's referring physician. Activities are integrated through a multispecialty GI Clinic, which sees patients and meets for discussion regularly. Staff include: medical oncologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, social workers and nutritionists. Colon and Rectal Surgical Division


The colon and rectal surgical division offers expertise in cancers of the colon, rectum and intestine. We provide world-class expertise in rectal-sparing surgery and ileoanal restorative proctocolectomies. The colon and rectal cancer program offers genetic testing for familial adenomatous polyposis. Colorectal cancer treatment is fully integrated with state-of-the-art diagnostics within gastroenterology and radiology. Cancer protocols coordinate with the oncology division to provide access to current clinical trials. The division provides expertise in the surgical management of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. We offer therapy for common disorders, including hemorrhoids, complex anal fistulae and anal condyloma. Our pelvic-floor facility assesses evacuation disorders such as fecal incontinence or outlet obstructions and nonrelaxing puborectalis. Anorectal manometry and physiologic assessment is available through collaborative programs with gastroenterology and radiology.
