Electrocardiography Laboratory
Director: John E. Markis, MD
More than 70,000 Studies Per Year
The CVI’s Electrocardiography Laboratory and hospital staff record and process over 70,000 studies per year and the recordings are interpreted by Cardiovascular Division staff cardiologists.
Important Diagnostic Tool
Electrocardiograms, also known as ECGs or EKGs, are a record of the electrical activity of the heart and are an important diagnostic tool for clinicians and a means to monitor the results of therapy and changes in both acute and chronic heart conditions.
The laboratory serves as an important Divisional teaching and training resource for the development of expertise in ECG interpretation by cardiology trainees as well as Harvard Medical students on the cardiology elective rotations.
