One of the Most Common Congenital Heart Defects

Bicuspid aortic valve disease is a congenital defect and is one of the most common congenital heart defects.

  • Affects between one and two percent of all children from birth.
  • Affects males twice as often as females.
  • More common in babies born of parents with a family history of having a bicuspid aortic valve or another congenital abnormality.
