Signs and Symptoms

The signs and symptoms of syncope include:

  • Blacking out
  • Falling for no apparent reason
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Pale skin
  • Grogginess
  • Fainting, especially after a meal or after exercise
  • Feeling unsteady while standing

Syncope is often preceded by other symptoms called premonitory symptoms, such as:

  • Lightheadedness
  • Nausea
  • Feeling warm
  • Cold, clammy sweat
  • Palpitations
