Causes

Palpitations can be caused by any number of factors or triggers. These include:

  • Exercise
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Fever
  • Caffeine, nicotine, cocaine or diet pills
  • Hyperventilation
  • Not enough oxygen in your blood
  • Medications for asthma, thyroid disease or heart disease
  • Hormone changes
