Risk Factors

Risk factors for long QT syndrome include:

  • Unexplained fainting spells, unexplained seizures or history of cardiac arrest, particularly in children, teens and young adults
  • Family members of children, teens or young adults with histories of unexplained fainting spells, seizures or cardiac arrest
  • Having relatives with long QT syndrome
  • Use of medications associated with causing prolonged QT intervals
