Brugada Syndrome

Genetic Disorder Causing Fainting and Rhythm Disturbances

Brugada syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by an abnormality in your heart’s electrical system that causes fainting and rhythm disturbances that can be potentially life threatening. These rhythm disturbances occur in the lower chambers, or ventricles, of your heart.

Can Lead to Cardiac Arrest

These arrhythmias can lead to chaotic electrical activity that causes your heart to quiver and fail to pump blood effectively to the rest of your body. The result may be fainting and, eventually, cardiac arrest.
