Signs and Symptoms

Some people with bradycardia have no symptoms. This is particularly true if their heart rate is between 50 and 60 beats per minute. It is when your heart beats less than 50 times per minute that symptoms usually arise. This happens because your heart may not be pumping enough blood to your organs and body tissues.

Symptoms may include:

  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Fainting or near-fainting spells (syncope)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness
  • Chest pains
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Confusion
  • Heart palpitations
  • Cardiac arrest (in extreme cases)
  • Low blood pressure
