International Leaders in Caring for Arrhythmia Patients
CardioVascular Institute physicians provide international leadership in caring for arrhythmia patients. The Harvard-Thorndike Electrophysiology Institute is the oldest and largest program of its kind in the region.
Pioneers of Modern Electrophysiology
Members of our staff were among the pioneers of modern cardiac electrophysiology, and continue to provide leadership in cutting-edge research. Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins), the defining textbook for the field, was authored by
Mark E. Josephson, MD, the CVI's chief of cardiovascular medicine.
Most Advanced Diagnostic and Treatment Modalities
Attracting patients nationally and worldwide, with about 7,000 visits annually in the arrhythmia and pacemaker/device clinics, the service offers the most advanced diagnosis and treatment modalities. An on-site ambulatory electrocardiography laboratory provides 24-hour surveillance for arrhythmia diagnosis and management. Physicians achieve excellent outcomes with implantation of devices. Patients benefit from education and support groups.
