Insect Stings

Some people are allergic to the venom from the bites of certain insects. This allergy can be severe and result in anaphylaxis, which is a medical emergency.

Five types of insects cause most sting reactions in the United States:

  • Yellow jackets
  • Honeybees
  • Paper wasps
  • Hornets
  • Fire ants
