Ethics Support Service
The Ethics Support Service began at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 1998 to promote what all of us at BIDMC do together in our daily work to provide the best possible care to our patients. Our core staff assists providers, patients, and their families when conflicts in values arise, when difficult medical and personal decisions are necessary, or when other challenges need to be resolved. We have no decision-making authority, but serve as a sounding board, as interpreters of hospital policies, and as mediators or supporters when difficult decisions are faced by our patients and colleagues.
Consultations are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
